A one-day hands-on class for anyone who loves mushrooms and would like to begin growing their own at home.

Together, we’ll build a small outdoor mushroom bed from the ground up. We’ll assemble the wooden bed, prepare the growing material, and add mushroom culture to the bed while learning how to choose the right place for it outdoors and care for it as it begins to establish.

Fall is a wonderful time to start an outdoor mushroom bed. The cooler temperatures and naturally wetter weather help keep the growing material moist while the mushrooms begin to establish.

Along the way, we’ll talk about the basics of how mushrooms grow, what they need throughout the seasons, and how to care for your bed so that, with a little patience, it can begin producing mushrooms at home.

All materials are included, including wood, hardware, growing material, and mushroom culture. No previous mushroom-growing or building experience is needed.

We’ll begin by looking at the shape and character of each gourd and preparing it to become a small home for birds. Each one is naturally different, with its own curves, markings, and form, making every finished birdhouse completely unique.

Once our gourds are prepared, we’ll decorate them using natural colors and simple materials, allowing plenty of space for individual ideas and creativity. We’ll add the finishing details needed to turn each gourd into a birdhouse that can be hung outdoors and enjoyed in the garden.

This class is a chance to work with a beautiful natural material, create something useful by hand, and make a special little home for the birds around us. No previous experience is needed.

A one-day art class exploring shape, pattern, and color through vegetable printing.

We’ll use vegetables as our printing tools, cutting them open to discover the beautiful shapes and patterns hidden inside. Using paint, we’ll press and layer these natural forms onto cotton napkins, experimenting with color, repetition, and composition as each print begins to build into its own design.

Carrots, potatoes, celery, peppers, and other vegetables can all leave wonderfully different marks, from simple circles and lines to flower-like shapes and unexpected patterns. Everyone will have the freedom to arrange their prints in their own way and create a set of napkins that feels completely unique.

This class is a chance to look at everyday natural materials in a new way, experiment with printmaking, and make something beautiful and useful by hand. No previous experience is needed.

We’ll begin by layering soft wool fibers and adding warm water and soap. Through rubbing, rolling, and shaping, the loose wool slowly begins to felt together, becoming a strong piece of fabric that we can form into a basket.

As the wool takes shape, we’ll continue working it by hand, building the sides and creating a basket with its own color, texture, and character. Each finished piece will be slightly different and can be used for small treasures, natural objects, or simply enjoyed as a handmade piece of art.

This class is a chance to experience the transformation of wool, learn a beautiful handwork technique, and make something useful entirely by hand. No previous felting experience is needed.
